Left pair: At left: Deborah Shacknofsky Lien
Right pair: Possibly a great-great-uncle and great-great-aunt

Two pictures that seem to be paired together, with the woman on the left of the left picture being clearly Deborah (Shacknofsky) Lien (my twice great grandmother, and Stuart's great-grandmother).

When we compare that Deborah to one we have of her taken in 1930 in NYC, it's clear that this Deborah is younger. Since Deborah didn't emigrate to the US until 1929, it seems likely that these photos may have been taken back in the old country - perhaps Bielsk or Brest, or perhaps Wysokie Litewskie had a photographer. (Editor: Yes, there was at least one photographer in Wysokie during the interwar period.) And if so, it's also possible that the other people in the photo are our great-great Aunts and one great-great Uncle. Specifically, we think it would Rachel Lien next to Deborah since she was the youngest and likely still unmarried in the photo. While the other photo could be the other remaining sister Golda Lew who we know from the 1928 voters list was married to Moszko Lew.
